Ablaze

Monday, 11 May 2009

Dying ashes lay
Where passion’s fire once burned
Ice encased a stony heart whose love so often spurned.

This spirit therefore broken
and eternally bleeding
Lost without a cause; there was no motive and no meaning

To anything and everything
Life seemed to pass me by
Stone cold and passionless, I barely felt alive.

And then you called me,
Your voice like molten sunrise;
Thawing my frozen being with your beautiful brown eyes.

You called me and inspired me
Your hands embraced my dust
Encouraged me to breathe again and so you gained my trust.

My dust was like gold to you
While others turned away
You embraced what they rejected; see you helped me turn the page.

You touched me
And stirred the dying embers deep within;
Kept knocking on my door until I gladly let you in.

Your touch was like white lightning,
Searing through me without warning
igniting new fires everywhere and ending my mourning.

How thick and how fast
love poured through my veins.
Swept me along and away with you; Setting my life aflame.

“I’m burning! I’m burning!”
My body and soul perspire!
You stirred me, turned and burned me, boy YOU set ME on fire!

And so from dying ashes
You fanned a tiny flame
Coaxing it into an inferno blazing in your name!

And so I am alive,
I live! I’m living and ablaze!
Growing now and learning all under your watchful gaze.

I love you and I thank you,
You brought me life again
Taught me to love again
You were the medicine for my pain.
